Josep Valsells, an industrial engineer, founded Productos Alp, a paint manufacturing industry. It was located in a rented premises at Passatge dels Camps Elisis in Barcelona.

Josep Valsells, the founder and first generation of the business, was born in Calaceite, Teruel, in 1913 and immigrated to Barcelona at the age of 13, where he settled down.

The land at 5 Amèrica ST, in the Guinardó neighborhood in Barcelona, was purchased and the  first 500 m² warehouse was built.

As the business progressed and the need for space grew, a 8,576 m² plot of industrial land was purchased in one of the first industrial estates built in the metropolitan area of Barcelona; the Concentració Industrial Vallesana, located in the municipalities of Montornès del Vallès and Montmeló.
Productos Alp became the third company to set up its business there, driven by the founder’s strategic vision that industrial activities should be located in industrial estates.

Xavier Valsells, also an industrial engineer, joined Productos ALP as the manager to manage the new factory in Montornès. He represents the second generation of the family.

The business made significant progress during a time when the domestic economy experienced years of expansion, but also faced major setbacks due to external crises.

The main strategic pillars were innovation, production process efficiency, and excellent customer service.

The Montornès factory became too small, and they decided to expand by purchasing an industry in Les Franqueses del Vallès.

Productos Alp acquired Alcor, a varnish manufacturer with a production plant of 2,300 m² built on a 10,000 m² plot of land in Les Franqueses del Vallès.

On April 13th, Carretera de Rubí S.L. was founded, now known as Nausbcn 1989 S.L.

This decision was made thanks to the strategic vision to separate the industrial activity from the real estate activity, and the desire to promote the latter by initiating the construction of industrial warehouses for rental purposes.

The company’s name coincides with the address of the first set of warehouses that were developed at Carretera de Rubí 375 in Terrassa.  

The first logistics warehouse was built in Les Franqueses del Vallès, covering 3,000 m², with APQ (Chemical Storage) compliance, a narrow aisle design, and a clear height of 12 meters. One of the pioneering facilities of this kind in Catalonia.

Jordi Valsells, an industrial engineer, and Oriol Valsells, a graduate in Business Administration and Management from ESADE, both members of the third generation, joined the business, with Jordi focusing on manufacturing and Oriol on the commercial side.

Between 1985 and 2002, an additional 22,342 m² of land was purchased in Les Franqueses del Vallès, and an area of 14,500 m² new industrial buildings and offices was constructed.

The family reached an agreement to sell the industrial paint manufacturing business to Lafarge Peintures while retaining ownership of the land and buildings.

The buyer transferred their operations to the warehouse in Les Franqueses.

This period coincided with Spain’s entry into the European Union and the adoption of the euro, which introduced a new paradigm with significant changes for the sector, including pressure to concentrate industry.

The family adopted a strategy to significantly boost the real estate activity in Carretera de Rubí SL by purchasing land and constructing warehouses for third-party rentals. Jordi Valsells dedicated his time exclusively to this task, taking advantage of the favourable market conditions until 2007.

It was a very challenging period due to the crisis in the industrial real estate sector in Catalonia.

However, we managed to overcome this period thanks to our solid the balance sheet and cautious approach to debt. In fact, the company even managed to purchase two plots of land and a property during this time.

Jordi Valsells had a fatal accident.

This was a particularly sad event and a very painful moment in the family’s history.

New warehouse complexes were built in Les Franqueses and Granollers.

Oriol Valsells joined the family firm to drive the new growth.

He did this after 25 years in the paint industry. In 2010, he had taken on the role of CEO of Cromology (a build-up resulting from the acquisition of 12 paint companies in southern Europe). After the latest change of shareholders in Cromology in January 2022, when it was acquired by Nippon Paints, Oriol resigned from his position to dedicate his efforts to the family business.

Four plots of land were purchased in four municipalities in Vallès, totalling 14,700 m², with the plan to construct 8,387 m² of buildings in turnkey projects.  

On November 11th, the company changed its name to Nausbcn 1989 S.L.

The vision for Nausbcn 1989 is to become a reference in the promotion and long-term rental of industrial and logistics warehouses, in the first and second industrial areas around Barcelona, with a clear focus on high-quality assets built and maintained sustainably.

Albert Brumwell Valsells, an architect, joins the company to run the technical office. He is the first representative of the fourth generation.

Olga Valsells, a BA graduate from ESADE, and social educator with a master’s degree in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from UOC, took on developing the CSR policy run by Nausbcn 1989 SL.

In March 2024, construction was completed on the first state-of-the-art corporate building, designed under Breeam Very Good Certification standards. This 3,110 m² logistics facility was built on a 7,008 m² plot in Castellbisbal. It was delivered to the tenant that same month.

In July 2025, construction was completed on a second state-of-the-art corporate building, designed under Breeam Excellent Certification standards (in progress). This 1,389 m² logistics facility was built on a 1,724 m² plot in Granollers. It was delivered to the tenant that same month.

On August 15th of that year, a brief illness brought an end to the fruitful life of Xavier Valsells. He had co-founded the company in 1989 alongside his wife, Isabel Goula, serving as its primary driving force for decades. He leaves behind a legacy defined by a vision of business management deeply rooted in profound human and corporate values.

In May 2026, construction was completed on a third state-of-the-art corporate building, designed under Breeam Excellent Certification standards (in progress). This 2,624 m² facility was built on a 3,619 m² plot in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. It was delivered to the tenant that same month.
